Dr. Robert (Bob) Bell
has served as president of Tennessee Tech University since July 2000.
Bell earned his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree in business administration from the University of Florida. He arrived at TTU in 1976 to assume duties as chairman of the Department of Management and Marketing following faculty and director positions at the University of North Florida. Within the TTU College of Business Administration, Bell held positions as assistant dean, director of MBA studies and associate dean. He was named dean of the college in 1991.

Nationally, Bell served four terms on the Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and has been recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce for outstanding service to the nation as a quality examiner. He has also been an economic development consultant for the World Bank, a state delegate on a trade mission to Japan and a Tennessee representative at the White House Conference on the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Within his community, Bell has chaired the Cookeville Area-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce's board of directors, the Regional Quality Council and the Putnam Tomorrow Task Force for the Putnam County Commission. He currently serves as vice chairman of the Chamber's Public Policy Division and chairman of the Government Affairs Committee. A past president of the local YMCA, Bell chairs the Cookeville Industrial Development Board and is a member of the Bryan Symphony Orchestra board of directors. He has been an adult leader in the Boy Scouts of America since 1988 and serves on the executive board for the Middle Tennessee Council of BSA. He also is a member of the Cookeville Rotary and Evening Lions Clubs.
