BMC's wide ranging and often pioneering work for clients advances and enhances its marketing and technological skills, thus creating a process that is self-renewing and always current.

Not only does BMC react to client needs, it is highly proactive, often working in an entrepreneurial capacity. The evolution of BMC's Regional Business Technology Incubator (RBTI) is a prime example.

Launched in the mid-1990s, RBTI provides rural entrepreneurs -- both start-up and existing small businesses -- with assistance, training, and access to emerging technologies related to Web, CD and DVD development, computers, software, hardware, and other technical equipment and information.

The success of RBTI led the center to develop a more enhanced, Web-based program to assist clients nationwide. For a fee, new or long-time businesses have access to courses, tutorials, and informational tips for launching and running an effective business. A searchable database includes video testimonials from successful entrepreneurs who share their hard-earned, practical and valuable expertise in many areas.

The BusinessMedia Center team is led by a 20-year marketing veteran, Director Kevin Liska. His extensive experience in and use of leading-edge technologies complements his knowledge of target marketing.

To ensure that the BusinessMedia Center in the College of Business Administration at Tennessee Tech University continues to be a leading and dynamic resource, up-and-coming technology specialists -- predominantly TTU students who excel in computer science studies -- work relentlessly to stay current in software, hardware and emerging technologies that could beneficially affect its diverse clients.
Students involved with the center gain a wealth of knowledge and experience. BMC equips graduate assistants, student employees, and volunteers with firsthand knowledge of applying emerging technologies to create business solutions for corporations, entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations.

Gaining knowledge of multimedia technology, and its many diverse uses, is only a portion of what is learned at BMC. Students learn to interact in a team-based setting, become acclimated to the business environment and gain valuable customer service skills. BMC prepares students to successfully make a transition into the workforce.

"Each project I've worked on has given me a better understanding of what it takes to create business solutions," said Paul Harrison, a BMC research specialist. "Being a part of the BMC team has taught me to think critically and to always reach beyond my capabilities to find an innovative solution to a problem."
