Regents Online Degree Program (RODP) - Campus Collaborative
and Regents Online Continuing Education & Workforce Development (ROCE)

BMC develops a strategic marketing plan, branding image and Web site for RODP and ROCE to help them double the programs' enrollment.
The Tennessee Board of Regents' (TBR) six universities, 13 community colleges and 27 technology centers collaborate to offer two online educational programs - Regents Online Degree Program (RODP) - Campus Collaborativeand Regents Online Continuing Education & Workforce Development (ROCE).

Increasing access to education for all Tennesseans is one of the many goals of RODP and ROCE. Another is to maximize technology to reach learners in remote areas of the state and allow flexibility for students with time-sensitive needs.

Offering degrees, diplomas, certificates, and training courses, RODP and ROCE are designed to enhance accessibility to quality, convenient education.
To attract students to the online programs, TBR Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Robbie Melton sought the marketing and communications expertise of BMC.

"We needed someone to communicate the positive aspects of online teaching and learning," said Melton. "The BusinessMedia Center thinks of creative ways to market outside the traditional methods."

Emphasizing the economic and personal development aspects of an extended education, BMC developed a comprehensive marketing strategy.

"They conducted a thorough needs assessment, a post survey so we're able to gauge the marketing success, and creatively thought of cost-effective ways to distribute information about the program," said Melton.

"Kevin (Liska, BMC director) was the visionary in terms of specific marketing and public relations. He had to shape the public's impression about online education. His vision was clear and simple -- convey a quality program. And, it worked. We doubled our enrollment."

BMC captured the attention of a broad audience by partnering RODP and ROCE with other statewide organizations geared toward lifelong learning.
